Privacy Policy

The Plunge is an independently run, free-to-play game in the United States. We collect as little as the game needs, we don't sell anything, and there are no advertising trackers.

1

What we collect

You give us: a leaderboard name; an email address and password if you make a full account (guests give neither); your picks; the leagues you join; family links you create and the other player confirms.

Created as you play: your results and standings, commissioner edits to your card, and — if you turn them on — a notification subscription for that device.

Collected automatically: standard server logs and your IP address, used to rate-limit sign-in and sign-up attempts and to keep the site up. We also count page views on our own server to see which pages people use and which links bring players in. That counting stores a random id in your browser and, with it, the page path and the site that referred you — never your IP address, your device details or anything you typed. There are no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics service, and nothing is shared with anyone; the only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in.

2

Why we have it

To run the game: show standings, grade picks, send pick receipts and password resets, send the notifications you asked for, and stop abuse. That's all.

3

Who else sees it

Other players see your leaderboard name, your picks once the week unlocks, your results, and which leagues you share with them. They never see your email.

Service providers that make the site work: our web host, our database provider, Google (for sending email from the pool's Gmail account), and your own browser's notification service. Our sports-data provider supplies scores and lines and receives nothing about you.

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.

4

Your choices

On your profile you can change your name or email, turn notifications on or off, download everything we hold about you, and delete your account. Deleting removes your account, picks, league memberships and family links; anonymous game records may remain in league history.

Or email theplungepicks@gmail.com and we'll do it for you. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your data; we honour those requests for everyone, wherever you are.

5

How long we keep it

While your account exists. Delete it and the personal parts go with it — page-view counts survive as anonymous totals with nothing linking them to you. Page-view records are discarded after about 13 months. Server logs roll off within about 30 days. Email delivery records stay with Google under their retention rules.

6

Security

Everything travels over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, never as text. Sending credentials are encrypted. Sign-ins end everywhere when a password changes. No system is perfect, and we'll tell affected players promptly if something goes wrong.

7

Children

The site isn't for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll remove it.
