Terms of Use

The Plunge is a free game of skill played for bragging rights. There is no entry fee, no prize, no payout and no wagering. We never accept, hold, transfer or pay out money, and we take no cut of anything.

Point spreads appear only as the yardstick for scoring picks, the same way a fantasy league uses statistics. We are not a sportsbook, a betting service or a gambling operator, and nothing here is an offer to place or accept a bet.

If a private group chooses to play for stakes among themselves, that is entirely between those people. It has nothing to do with us, we don't facilitate it, and it isn't permitted as part of the site.

You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, get a parent or guardian's permission first. One account per person. Don't impersonate anyone or pick a name meant to look official.

You're responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by someone you hand your device to. During testing you can play with a name only; that account lives on the device you created it on until you add an email and password.

Spreads are frozen when a week is published and don't move. Cards are final once filed. Scores come from a third-party data provider and can contain errors or arrive late.

The commissioner can correct a mis-recorded card, enter a card sent in another way, reopen picks in an emergency, and re-score a week when data was wrong. Those changes are logged and flagged on the card. Commissioner decisions are final.

Anyone can create a private league and invite others. League owners choose who is in their league and can remove members. Your leaderboard name, picks and results are visible to the other people in any league you join, and in the global standings.

Don't attack, scrape or overload the site, don't use software to play or sign up, don't harass other players, and don't choose offensive names. We can suspend or remove any account or league that does, or that damages the game for everyone else.

The site is provided as-is. We don't promise it will always be available, that scoring will always be perfect, or that notifications and emails will always arrive. We may change or discontinue it. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss arising from using it — and since nothing of monetary value is at stake here, there shouldn't be any.

These terms are between you and The Plunge, an independently run site in the United States, and are governed by the laws of the operator's home state, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
